Constance Elizabeth (Mason) Kines Stoner, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Jesse Clifford and Laura Elizabeth (Coleman) Mason. She was the wife of the late Alvin Kines Sr. who died Dec. 6, 1976, and the late John Henry Stoner who died April 27, 2005.

Constance retired from domestic work and catering. She was an active member of Second Christian Church, Hagerstown where she was past president of the Usher Board, church clerk, deaconess, trustee and a member of the Second Christian Church's Over the Hill Club. She was also awarded a medal from the Long Meadow Bowling League, where she bowled for more than 10 years.

Constance is survived by a niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lee Mason, Conshohocken, Pa.; great-great-great-nieces and -nephews; sister-in-law, Clementine Peggy Ruffin, Capital Heights, Md.; four stepdaughters, Catherine R. Valentine of Hagerstown, Cynthia M. Smothers of Brunswick, Md., Johnette L. Kidd of Suffolk, Va. and Sandra L. Fletcher of Augusta, Ga.; three stepsons, Thomas H. Stoner of Hagerstown, Vernon E. Stoner of Olympia, Wash. and Gerald Stoner of Fernadina, Fla.; 14 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Constance was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Mason; two brothers, Marshall Mason and James E. Mason; and a stepdaughter, Henrietta M. Carrington.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Second Christian Church, 65 W. North Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jacquelyn M. V. Dixon will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens, Hagerstown.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Second Christian Church, 65 W. North Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
