W. Valroy "Val" Redick Jr., 90, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown.

Born March 9, 1918, in Whitaker, Pa., he was the son of the late Walter Valroy and Rachel Lydia Downie Redick Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ethel Mae Norris Redick.

He obtained a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa., in 1961.

He retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, where he was a section manager of health and safety.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and was a commissioner to the Presbyterian Churches General Assembly. He also was a member of the Christian Endeavor International, the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hagers-town and the Barbershop Harmony Society.

He is survived by three children, Valorie J. Winslow of Stafford Springs, Conn., Arlene R. Stover of Colchester, Conn., and Charles E. Redick of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Ruth Montgomery; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Janice L. Trammell-Savin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, with military honors by AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
