Donald "Donnie" L. Shepley, 65

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mr. Donald "Donnie" L. Shepley, 65, of 138 Coquina Sands Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Shirley (Greer) Shepley, his wife of 17 years.

He was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Frederick, Md. and was the son of the late Martin and Evelyn (Kolb) Shepley. Mr. Shepley attended Frederick High School prior to proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He achieved the Sharpshooter Award in 1960 before serving as an honor guard at Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., being one of four chosen out of 80 Marines. Donnie was a truck driver for Pabst Blue Ribbon, Wolf Furniture, B.D.R. Express and the Frederick News-Post. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, Pa., a past member of The Red Men's Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Owl's Club. He was an avid gardener and landscaper, being very proud of his work. He also enjoyed camping, collecting arrowheads, Indian memorabilia and keeping his automobiles immaculate.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Camille (Shepley) Jerome of Florida, Matthew Loy Shepley of Maryland and Lee Shepley of Frederick; four stepchildren, Larry Ketterman Jr. and wife, Debra, of Pennsylvania, Donna J. Munday and husband, Vince, of Hagerstown, Gregory W. Ketterman and wife, Tina, of Charles Town, W.Va., and Brenda Huff and husband, Sam, of Point of Rocks, Md.; two grandchildren, Levi Aaron Jerome and Kassina Chelsi Jerome; nine stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; his sister, Hilda Hoffman and husband, Jim; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his special friends, Gene and Dolly Beachy, Gary Biser, Russell Newcomer and Jim Crutchley. He was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" E. Shepley. He will be greatly missed by his little buddy, "Shepp".

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Walter P. Fogarty officiating.

Pallbearers will be Vince Munday, Gene Beachy, Jim Hoffman, David Morgan Jr., Jerry Hudson and Sam Huff. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
