WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mr. Donald "Donnie" L. Shepley, 65, of 138 Coquina Sands Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Shirley (Greer) Shepley, his wife of 17 years.
He was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Frederick, Md. and was the son of the late Martin and Evelyn (Kolb) Shepley. Mr. Shepley attended Frederick High School prior to proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He achieved the Sharpshooter Award in 1960 before serving as an honor guard at Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., being one of four chosen out of 80 Marines. Donnie was a truck driver for Pabst Blue Ribbon, Wolf Furniture, B.D.R. Express and the Frederick News-Post. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, Pa., a past member of The Red Men's Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Owl's Club. He was an avid gardener and landscaper, being very proud of his work. He also enjoyed camping, collecting arrowheads, Indian memorabilia and keeping his automobiles immaculate.
