Cinderella Shop open



The Cinderella Shop at Zion United Church of Christ will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.Gently used prom gowns will be sold for $25, cash or check only.

Proceeds will go to R.E.A.C.H. Donations of gently used, clean prom gowns will be accepted at Zion UCC from 9 a.m. to noon today.

Free yoga classes



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -In honor of Yoga Day USA 2009, Chambersburg YMCA will host two free yoga classes on Saturday, Jan. 24.

A yoga class for ages 13 and older will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. and a family yoga class will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Chambersburg YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St.

Learning group for parents



FREDERICK, Md. - Families Plus and Frederick County Public Schools' Partners for Success and the FCDC Family Support Network offers a monthly group, Parents Learning Together. The group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Thomas Johnson Middle School.

This month's topic is Sensory Based Fun. Parents will discuss ways to create opportunities to have fun and build independence in children having difficulty with sensory processing.

Internet safety discussion



THURMONT, Md. - Families Plus! will present "Internet Safety for Parents and Caregivers of School-age Children and Teens" from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Thurmont Elementary School, 805 E. Main St.

The program is free. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30. Reservations are required for dinner and/or childcare.

Deadline nears for Symphony Saturdays



Maryland Symphony Orchestra will host Symphony Saturdays for students in grades first through third.

Each of four sessions will feature an instrument type: Feb. 7, strings; Feb. 14, percussion; Feb. 21, woodwinds; and Feb. 28, brass.

Sessions are offered from 9 to 10 a.m., 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

The cost is $20 per child for all four Saturdays and $10 for a participating parent. Fees are payable with registration. Deadline to register is Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Martin Luther King Jr. activities planned



FREDERICK, Md. - Three programs honoring the birthday of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Whitaker Campus Center at Hood College, 401 Rosemont Ave. Activities include:

o "Citizen King," a film exploring the last five years of King's life, 12:30 p.m.

o Hood College Gospel Ensemble, 6:30 p.m., followed by a lecture by Bruce Thompson titled "King Joined a Movement."
