Charles Robert "Bob" Miller, 69, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at his home, among family members.

Born Oct. 21, 1939, in Hagerstown, Bob was the son of the late Charles Rudolph Miller and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Miller.

After graduating from Hagerstown High school in 1957, he served in the U.S. Navy at the London Naval Building as a radio operator.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Annie M. (Eccles) Miller, whom he married in 1960 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown; their three children, Michael T. Miller of Middletown, Del., and Deirdre "Dee Dee" Paddack and Kimberly A. Ziolkowski, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Jeannie Harkrader, Joannie Herbert and Shirley Stine, all of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Daved and Alex Paddack, Nicholas and Maddie Ziolkowski, and Robert and Joseph Miller.

Along with the love of his family, friends and co-workers, he loved and was actively involved with sports his whole life in Hagerstown. He was involved with Federal Little League, manager of the Hagerstown Bears Football Team and the general manager of the Hagerstown Suns Baseball Team. He also was a past president of the Tri-State Ravens Nest 12.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Kenney as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Naval Mid-Atlantic Command Honor Guard.
