Pancake breakfast

There will be an all-you-care-to-eat pancake breakfast Saturday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Club.

The menu, which will feature Hoffman's sausage, has been expanded to include scrambled eggs and sausage gravy.

Tickets cost $5.50 for adults and $3 for those ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger can eat for free.

Historical society

The Maugansville Historical Society will meet Thursday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Maugans Avenue branch of The First National Bank of Greencastle. Interested area residents are invited to attend.

Little League sign-up

Maugansville Little League registration will be Thursday, Feb. 12, and Friday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Building.

Letters of interest for managers in the Tee Ball, Minor, Junior and Senior divisions still are being accepted.

If you are interested in possibly managing a team or need more information on registration, send an e-mail to or mail your letter of interest in managing a team to P.O. Box 266, Maugansville, MD 21767.

Baseball clinic

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 3, and continuing every Tuesday in February from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Denny Hockensmith and Dave Grams will teach the rules of Little League Baseball at the Church of Christ on Leitersburg Pike.

As in the past, they will cover the basics as well as the changes to the rule book, including new pitch count rules. Before you purchase a new bat for your child, for instance, you need to know the Bat Performance Factor (BPF), which must be stamped on all bats.

The workshops are free.

Every league is in need of umpires and all managers are urged to attend.

For information, call Hockensmith at 301-416-2841 or Grams at 301-791-1687.
