MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Antoine Malone scored a team-high 14 points while Jason Chase added a doule-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, leading South Hagerstown to a 71-61 MVAL Piedmont victory over winless Middletown (0-11, 0-4) on Wednesday.

The Rebels improved to 5-6 (1-2).

St. James 64, Maret 60

SAINT JAMES -- Spencer Draper and Mike Russ hit foul shots in the final minute to help St. James hold on for a Mid Atlantic Conference victory over Maret, the Saints' fifth straight victory.

The Saints (9-7, 2-3) battled to a 26-19 lead at the half and moved to a 12-point lead in the third quarter before the Frogs started a comeback try.

Maret (7-6, 2-3) cut the lead to three, but St. James put it away from the foul line, where the Saints hit 28 of 33 shots for the game.

Russ led a balanced St. James attack with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Draper finished with 16 points and six assists and Jordan Barr added 14 points.

CLEAR SPRING -- Mike Braithwaite and Kyle Crist each scored 11 points, and the Blazers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers, 24-8.

Jordan Thurber had nine rebounds and Crist added for steals for Clear Spring (9-2).

Tommy Kratz had 19 points for Hancock (2-10).

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Amber Booher had 19 points, eight rebounds and seven steals, and the Indians held Petersburg to three points in the fourth quarter to finally pull away.

Jess Haynes had eight points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds for Berkeley Springs (9-4, 2-1 Potomac Valley Conference). Lesley Yost had eight points and three steals, and Deidra Burch added six points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds.
