Puzzle Day

The Washington County Free Library at 100 S. Potomac St. invites everyone to visit the library to participate in a variety of puzzle-related activities on Jan. 29, which is National Puzzle Day.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., bring a brown bag lunch and relax with a puzzle. Bring your favorite puzzle or pick one of ours. Not a jigsaw puzzler? Crossword and word-search puzzles also will be available.

You might even want to join in a game of Scrabble. Dessert and drinks will be provided.

Puzzles and pencil games also will be available in the Children's Department during the day.

Then from 6 to 8 p.m., bring your team (four people maximum), come back to the library and join in our puzzle contest. Each team will be given a jigsaw puzzle. The team to complete its puzzle first wins a puzzle prize. For details, call Jeff Ridgeway at 301-739-3250, ext. 132.

If jigsaw puzzles aren't your game, come and cheer our teams on. Pencil puzzles such as crosswords, sudoku and word search will be available. Or join in an evening game of Scrabble.

Refreshments will be served.

The library strives to make all programs accessible. Please inform us of special needs two weeks prior to the program.

Blossom School graduation

The Blossom School of Etiquette will host its third graduation and celebrate its first anniversary Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Memorial Recreation Center at 109 W. North Ave.

Stop by to encourage the young ladies who finished their commitment to the classes and show them how proud you are of them.

Everyone is invited to attend, including past participants of the etiquette school.

Ebenezer AME Church's Women's Day will host a Chicken & Pig Feet dinner Sunday at 1 p.m. at the church at 40 Bethel St.

The menu is pig's feet, chicken, potato salad, green beans, cornbread, cake and soda. The cost is $10.
