Edmond Boyd Hardesty Sr., 78, of 18608 Wilderness Way, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 22, 1930, in Island Creek, Md., he was the son of the late George Norris and Helen Rebecca Edmunds Hardesty.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Waters Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Leonard, Md.

He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport, The Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 of Williamsport, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2435 of Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie A. Hardesty; three daughters, Cheryl D. Stallings of Huntingtown, Md., Barbara D. Hoyt of Hagerstown and M. Susie Hardesty of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Edmond B. Hardesty Jr. of Lexington Park, Md., and G. Michael Hardesty of Linthicum, Md.; one sister, Dorothy Hardesty of Baltimore; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one son, G. Stevie Hardesty; two sisters, Elizabeth Denton and C. Katherine Hardesty; and one brother, Junior Hardesty.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, which will be open after 9 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
