Are you interested in new bands and music? Or do you want a chance to show off your own band? If that sounds interesting then there is an opportunity coming up at North Hagerstown High that would be great for you.

The Junior Class of North High presents Battle of the Bands on Saturday, Jan. 24, at North High, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the music starts at 4:30. Admission is $5.

"Last year I think everyone enjoyed voting for their favorite bands, and hopefully it will be even more fun this year because of the numerous door-prizes we hope to offer," said David Burkey, junior class president.

The entertainment is non-stop with dual stages, one in the auditorium and one in the cafeteria.

More than $100 in prizes will be awarded to the top bands, and the members of the audience get to vote for their favorite bands to win.

Bands aren't the only ones who could leave with a prize. For the first time ever, audience members have the opportunity to win door prizes of gift certificates and free food from local businesses like Moe's Southwest Grill and Friendly's.

"Also, throughout most of the night we keep a tally chart of who is leading in the voting process," Burkey said.

Bands can still register to play by calling Martha Cordova at 301-766-8250. There is a $25 registration fee.
