School year at halfway point

The end of the marking period is here. That means the school year is half over. Be on the lookout for report cards.

School news

You can keep up-to-date with what's going on at the high school by going to Sporting events and other things going on at the school are posted there.

Dessert bingo

The Clear Spring Elementary School PTA is changing the date of its dessert bingo. It will be Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. A short PTA meeting will be followed by bingo. Please mark this change on your calendars.

Essay contest

Don't forget the deadline for the annual Americanism essay contest sponsored by Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Auxiliary Unit 222 is coming up. The contest is open to all third- through eighth-grade students in the Clear Spring school district (including home- schooled and private school students.)


This year's topic is "Soldiers, Past and Present ... America, Honor Your Veterans."

All essays will be judged at the local level first. A banquet will be in May, where awards and cash prizes will be presented to the first-, second- and third-place winners in each division. The first-place winner in each division will advance to the district level. Winners then go on to the state and national level. Information about essay requirements is available at Clear Spring Elementary and Clear Spring Middle schools.
