Rebels score victory over Hancock

HANCOCK -- South Hagerstown held a pregame team meeting and then came out and took it to Hancock, posting a 66-36 victory on Monday.

"I told them this is a team sport, not an individual sport and that we've got to get it right for us to make a run in the playoffs," said South coach Kevin Naylor.

The Rebels (6-6) used their speed to score in transition early as they took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and 28-15 by halftime.

Shane Santell led South's scoring with 11 points and Tyree Jones added 10 as the Rebels stopped a three-game losing streak. All 11 South players broke into the scoring column.

Spencer Heller had 12 points for Hancock (2-9) and Tommy Kratz had three 3-pointers and scored 11 points as the Panthers lost their fourth straight.

VANDALIA, Ohio -- No. 1 Martinsburg picked up a win in the Flyin to the Hoop Shootout to begin a tough week-long schedule.

Isaac Thornton scored 11of Martinsburg's 13 fourth-quarter points and ended with 21, going 7 of 8 from the line.

The Bulldogs (8-2) clamped down defensively after Dayton Christian (8-2) hit six of its first seven shots to take a 15-14 lead after the first period. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for Dayton Christian.

George Chase added 12 points, including 8 of 10 at the line, and nine rebounds, and Tevin Walker led the Bulldogs with 11 rebounds.

The Bulldogs have games this week against Mercersburg Academy, Hedgesville and Morgantown.

LOYSBURG, Pa. -- Northern Bedford used a strong second quarter to pull away from Southern Fulton in Sideling Hill League game.

Northern Bedford (12-2, 8-1) was led in scoring by Matthew Syder with 14 points, while Josh Wertz led Southern Fulton (9-5, 5-4) with 13 points.
