21 receive Shepherd Foundation scholarships

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Twenty-one Washington County residents have been awarded scholarships from the Shepherd University Foundation.

Hagerstown residents receiving scholarships include Christina Elaine Oliver, Robert and Jean Rissler Presidential Scholarship; Alicia Yvonne Henderson, Robert and Jean Rissler Presidential Scholarship; Jarell Aaron Hasan, Moler General Athletic Scholarship; Evan Blair MacKenzie, Shaw Leadership Scholarship and Andrew D. Michael Scholarship; Sara Marie Sandeen, Burkhart Legacy Scholarship; Erin Weatherly, Everhart Scholarship; Jennifer Renee Ferenz, George and Margaret Tabler Scholarship; Matthew Tyler Ridenour, Pease Baseball Scholarship; and Allison Musser, Zenith W. Young Scholarship.

Sharpsburg residents receiving scholarships include Curtis Michael Wolfe, 1955 Football Team Endowment Scholarship and Football Scholarship; Jennifer Elizabeth Gallienne, Burkhart General Scholarship; Kristi Lynn McAleese, David Robinson Memorial Scholarship; and Colin Michael Curry, Barbara Puckett Greenstreet Scholarship.

Boonsboro residents receiving scholarships include Kyle William Bittner, Robert and Jean Rissler Scholarship and Elmer F. Keebler Scholarship; and Whitney Tyler Sheppard, Bill Pringle and Children Scholarship.

Other Washington County residents receiving scholarships include Jerica Allene Hewett, Keedysville, Moler General Athletic Scholarship; Michael Wayne Fox, Hancock, Shaw Leadership Scholarship; Sean Anthony Wiles, Knoxville, Class of 2002 Scholarship and Class of 2003 Scholarship; Tracey Kipe, Smithsburg, Elizabeth Tabler Scholarship and Mary Jane Davis Scholarship; Kathryn R. Shirk, Clear Spring, Berta Rae Baker Scholarship; and Kristin Diane Hiser, Maugansville, Guy Frank Emeritus Scholarship.

The Shepherd University Foundation provided more than $1 million in student and program support in 2008-09. These funds support approximately 400 scholarships that are awarded to deserving Shepherd students each academic year.
