HANCOCK - Delmar Leslie Spade, 73, of Hollow Road, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Sept. 4, 1935, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Leslie R. and Beatrice G. Truax Spade.

He attended Hancock-area schools.

He had been employed by A.G. Chemical Co., Downingtown, Pa.

He was a member of Amaranth Church of the Brethren, Warfordsburg, Pa.

He is survived by four sisters, Phyllis Thompson of Hancock, Viola Weigle of Hedgesville, W.Va., Elda Mertz of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Georgia DeShong of Sleepy Creek, W.Va.; three brothers, Bernard L. Spade of Hancock, Arlie G. Spade of Rising Sun, Md., and Gerald L. Spade of Newark, Del.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Estalene Frita and Nancy Shives; and three brothers, Kenny Spade, Charles Spade and Walter Spade.


Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Pastor Freeman Snair will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
