Rolland Clement Stephen Sr., 82, of 14308 Daley Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 19, 1926, in Malaga, Ohio, he was the son of the late Milton Stephen and Anna Rhoda Jeffers Stephen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Lou Kemp Stephen, in 2004.

He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc., retiring in 1991 after 29 years of service.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of UAW Local 171, American Legion Post 202, Williamsport, and Moose Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Tamara L. Poper of Greencastle, Pa., and Debra A. High of Hagerstown; two sons, Terry M. Stephen of Greencastle and Rolland C. Stephen Jr. of Hagerstown; four sisters, Bertha Carpenter and Thelma Froehlich, both of Barnesville, Ohio, Madeline Mellinger of Jerusalem, Ohio, and Virginia Gallagher of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, William Stephen of Salem, Ohio, and Joseph Stephen of Canton; and three grandsons.


He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marjorie Palmer, Mildred Hardesty and Wanda Devitt; and three brothers, Clarence Stephen, Garold Stephen and Hubert Stephen.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Pastor Len Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
