Grace Brethren Church offering marriage series



Pastor Harald Bjerga has started a marriage series at Grace Brethren Church. The first class was Sunday and the program will run for six weeks at the 10:15 a.m. worship service.

The church is at First and Spruce streets in Hagerstown.

The public is invited. Child care will be provided.

Discovery Station



Saturday - Tim Keener, ham radio operator, will talk about "Wireless Communication and the History and Use of Morse Code" at Discovery Station in downtown Hagerstown at 2 p.m.

Cooking demonstration



The public is invited to a cooking class at the Women's Club Sunday, Feb. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. Shellie Ralston, chef from The Rhubarb House, will give a cooking demonstration, including samples. Admission costs $12 and reservations are appreciated by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870.

Trip to show



The Women's Club is sponsoring a bus trip to the Hippodrome in Baltimore to see "Riverdance." The $88 fee includes bus fare and the show. The public is invited. For more information, call Dottie Cochrane at 301-739-2816.

Garden club plans trip to flower show



Crossroads Garden Club is sponsoring a trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Wednesday, March 4.

The bus will leave Long Meadow Shopping Center at 8 a.m. The trip costs $69, which includes bus fare and admission to the show.

The theme this year is "Bella Italia." The public is invited. For reservations, call Connie Spong at 301-797-7394.

Prom show to be held at South High



On Saturday, Jan. 31, the South Hagerstown High School PTA, along with Potomac Bridals, will hold a prom fashion show at South High at 3 p.m.

Tickets cost $3 for adults and $2 for students. Gowns and tuxedos will be on display. Discounts and door prizes will be offered. Light refreshments will be served.

Relay For Life kickoff event



A kickoff event for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Washington County will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan building on Maugans Avenue.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

This year marks the 25th year for Relay For Life.

This year's Relay For Life of Washington County will take place beginning on Friday evening, June 19, at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park.

Relay For Life is an overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer, and raise money to help fund cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
