Two appointed at Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Aaron Ryan has been named director of major gifts at Shepherd University, where he will manage a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects, be responsible for cultivation and stewardship of donors, and serve on a fundraising team responsible for planning and implementing strategy for a comprehensive campaign at Shepherd.

Ryan was the regional director of major gifts for the association of graduates of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado before joining Shepherd University. His also has been director of development-major gifts for the West Virginia University Schools of Dentistry and Pharmacy, and director of development and alumni relations at Fairmont State University.

o Thomas C. Segar of Hagerstown has been named assistant vice president for student affairs/director of residence life at Shepherd University, where he will be responsible for the administration, operation and management of Shepherd's Residence Life Office. He also will be responsible for the Student Center, student activities, commuter affairs, Greek affairs and conference services.

Segar is returning to Shepherd, where he served as director of multicultural student affairs and disability support service for 2 1/2 years. He also was area coordinator, assistant director and associate director of residence life at Gettysburg College, and residence director at Shippensburg University.

o Also, Dr. Raymond Smock, director of the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies at Shepherd University, has been appointed to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.

The commission administers an annual grant program of $5 million to support documentary publications and archival preservation.
