Smith Elliott Kearns & Co.



Michelle N. Fravel of Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC has completed the requirements to be licensed as a certified public accountant, according to the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.

Fravel earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Shepherd University and joined the Hagerstown office in 2006. She works with the firm's individual clients, providing tax planning and preparation services. She also specializes in accounting and tax services for the firm's estate, fiduciary tax compliance and probate administration practice.

Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC is a full-service accounting and consulting firm with offices in Hagerstown and Hanover, Pa., Carlisle, Pa., and Chambersburg, Pa.

The company also has announced that Amy Barnes, Victoria Bartlett and Donna Bonebrake have been promoted to managers.

Barnes joined the Chambersburg office in 2001 and is focused on providing tax, accounting, auditing and consulting services to financial institutions, local governments and nonprofit organizations. She earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Shippensburg University.

Bartlett joined the Hanover office in 1997 and specializes in providing tax and consulting services to closely held businesses.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix and has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. 

Bonebrake joined the Chambersburg office in 2005, bringing with her more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. 

She earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Francis University and concentrates on providing specialized tax, accounting and auditing services to the firm's financial institution clients.

FedEx Ground



Paul O'Brien of Hagerstown has been recognized by Fed-Ex Ground, the small-package ground delivery service of FedEx Corp., for achieving 15 years of safe driving without a preventable accident.

O'Brien has been a professional truck driver for 16 years with FedEx Ground and works at the company's Hagerstown facility.

FedEx Ground, which has more than 20,000 vehicles on the road, has been recognized three times by the American Trucking Association with the President's Trophy, the industry's most prestigious honor for safety.

Kirby Co.



Roy Long, who operates a Kirby distributorship in Hagerstown, was recognized by Kirby world headquarters as part of the Challenge of Champions "Learn, Grow, Achieve and Prosper" campaign, a yearlong promotion in which distributors can win prizes and trips for outstanding performance.

The Kirby Co. sells home-care systems in more than 70 countries through in-home demonstrations.

Rose Hill Cemetery



At the final quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees of Rose Hill Cemetery in November, the following were elected officers for 2009:

J. Roger Finn, John H. Urner, vice president; D. Blaine Weaver, treasurer; and Robert W. Startzman, secretary.

EPIQ Family Medicine



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Dr. Rebecca L. Pound has joined EPIQ Family Medicine, an affiliate of Summit Health.

Pound received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa., and completed her residency training at the UPMC St. Margaret Family Practice Residency Program in Pittsburgh.

She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

EPIQ Family Medicine provides newborn and child health care; women's health care, including preventive services, disease screening and contraception; adolescent health care; men's health care and preventive services; chronic disease management; and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries.

Brook Lane Health Services



Tammara Randall was recognized as the clinical staff employee of the month for December.

Randall, a teacher at Laurel Hall School, began working at Brook Lane in 2000.

FREDERICK, Md. -- Michelle Turner, an Allstate agent with 12 years of experience, will be taking over the family business from her father, Cliff Wright, who is retiring after 28 years.

Turner will serve as the primary agent while Wright will remain on staff as an adviser.

Correctional Officer Sgt. Warren Holder was selected as Roxbury Correctional Institution's Employee of the Month for December.

Holder was selected due to his consistency, accuracy and dependability in carrying out the responsibilities of the unit during the four-month absence of the unit manager. He has been employed by the state of Maryland since 1991.  

MCTC



Office Secretary II Holly Bonenberger was selected as Maryland Correctional Training Center's Employee of the Month for January.

Bonenberger is secretary to the Transition Office and Volunteer Services Department, maintains test scores for case managers, assists with volunteer screening and scheduling, and assists the chaplains. She also is involved with the Employee Appreciation Committee and Maryland Charities Campaign.

Bonenberger has been employed by MCTC since May 2005.
