WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Thelma C. Cashman King, 83, formerly of 13650 Harbaugh Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at her daughter's home.

Born May 12, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lola Benedict Cashman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. "Jack" King, in 2000. They were married June 7, 1947.

She was a 1943 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was employed as a secretary for the former WEEO Radio Station in Rouzerville, Pa., retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Wayne Heights Brethren Church in Waynesboro.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Master Chapter and a volunteer at the voter poles in Rouzerville.

She is survived by two daughters, Lorna K. Thomas of Greencastle, Pa. and Jacqueline L. O'Donnell of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.


She was preceded in death by one brother, John F. Cashman.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Heights Brethren Church in Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wayne Heights Brethren Church, 120 Strickler Ave., Waynesboro, PA 17268; or Lutheran Social Services/Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
