DSS busy over the holidays

January 18, 2009

The Washington County Department of Social Services participated in several holiday activities in December.

The Washington County Family Center held two Dad's Connection parties with parent-child activities and holiday meals.

The center also held a holiday party and literacy event for all participants enrolled in the center's education programs. All children who attended received a gift and a book from Santa.

Project Home (Certified Adult Residential Environment) sponsored its annual Christmas party for residents and CARE providers at Next Dimensions Restaurant.

LIFE TEEN, a youth group of high school volunteers from St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown, provided Christmas presents for a local family. The family included two young children and their parents.

St. Ann Catholic Church pledged to provide gifts to every child in foster care through the Department of Social Services, and the foster care and adoptions unit received several bags full of toys from Hagerstown Community College.
