Country western dance group elects officers

The Hagerstown Country Western Dance Association has elected new officers for the year.

Bert Callahan is the new dance association president. Other officers include Tina LaPole, Beth Watson, Carol Brunner, Carol Garling. Cindy Weaver, Sandy Nelder and dance instructor Linda Henry.

Linda Henry and her husband, Bill Henry, also teach dance lessons at the Cancun Cantina West Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

The dance association hosts dances the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at the Maugansville Ruritan Club on Maugans Avenue, off Interstate 81, exit 9. Dances start at 8 p.m. Music is supplied by DJs and instructors Linda Henry of Step'N Country and Chip Moats of Full House. Dances for singles and couples are offered. Line dances alternate with a couples dance every other song. The public is invited to attend. Admission is $7 per dancer.

The dance association also offers 12 weeks of line dance lessons at St. Joseph Catholic Church twice a year. The winter line dance sessions are on Tuesdays until March 31. Dances for beginners and intermediate dancers will be taught. The lessons cost $4 per dancer per night.
