Learn how to garden during the winter

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Master Gardeners offers "Winter Gardening 101" from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 7 and March 7 at the Ag Heritage Building, 181 Franklin Farm Lane. Topics are:

Feb. 7 - Winter Sowing Seeds. Karen Brown will discuss the practice of "winter sowing," using recycled containers that act as miniature greenhouses, in which to sow seeds outdoors. A hands-on class. $5. Snow date is Feb. 14.

March 7 - Hands-on Pruning. Elmer Greey will demonstrate hands-on pruning at his Shippensburg garden. Dress for the weather and bring bypass pruning shears. $5. Snow date is March 14.
