WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Kathy D. Mitchell-Tharp, 50, of 11845 Old Route 16, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at her home of cancer.
Born Sept. 1, 1958, in Arlington County, Va., she was the daughter of Virgie Elizabeth Zimbro Mitchell of Manassas Park, Va., and the late Clinton E. Mitchell.
She was a 1976 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, Va. She attended college, working towards her associate degree.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Terry L. Tharp Sr., whom she married March 18, 1994; one daughter, Kerri E. Litz of Baltimore; one son, David E. Lavoie of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Terry L. Tharp Jr. of Greencastle, Pa., and Joseph A. Tharp of Waynesboro; two sisters, Janet M. Humphries of Goldvein, Va., and Karen S. Marshall of Ligmun, Va.; three brothers, Roger E. Mitchell of Melbourne, Fla., Brian C. Mitchell of Woodbridge, Va., and Daniel L. Mitchell of Burlington, N.C.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
