Q and A: Circuit City closing

Following are questions posed to the Circuit City corporate communications in Richmond, Va., for customer inquiries:

Q: Will Circuit City stores and Web site continue to accept Circuit City gift cards?
A: Yes, they will be redeemed at full value, but only through the liquidation sales.

Q: Are extended warranties affected by the liquidation?
A: No, they are backed by an independent company.

Q: Will extended warranties still be available on items purchased during liquidation stores?
A: Yes.

Q: When will Circuit City's Web site go off line?
A: It will continue through the weekend of Jan. 17-18. Customers will not be able to buy online and pick up purchases at liquidation stores.

Q: When will liquidation sales begin?
A: Some as early as Saturday, Jan. 17, and will last as long as it takes to sell through the merchandise at each store, possibly through the end of March.

Q: How much will merchandise be marked down?
A: Clearance pricing will be in effect.

Q: What types of payment will be accepted?
A: Cash, Circuit City gift cards and most credit cards. No personal checks. All sales final.

Q: What about returns and refunds?
A: Customers can return products purchased before Jan. 16 for 14 days for exchange or refunds. When closing sales begin, all sales are final.

Q: Will there be delivery service for items purchased at liquidation sales?
A: No.

Q: Will home theater installations be available during closing sales?
A: Yes.

Q: What about services and repairs?
A: Services already under way will be completed but no additional jobs will be accepted. No new car electronics installations will be offered.
