MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Three juveniles were hurt Friday morning after the van in which they riding collided head-on with a Berkeley County school bus in the 1300 block of Delmar Orchard Road near Orchard View Intermediate School, police and school officials said.

The bus driver was not injured and no children were on the bus, which was about to begin picking up students when the accident happened about 10 a.m., according to to Jaimee Borger, Berkeley County Schools director of communications. Students were delivered on time to Orchard View Intermediate by another bus, Borger said.

The 16-year-old driver of the van and two passengers were taken to City Hospital where they were treated for injuries that did not appear life-threatening, police said in a news release.

The driver of the van, a Plymouth Voyager, was cited for failure to maintain control, driving left of center, seatbelt violation and no proof of insurance, police said. The van was traveling north on Delmar Orchard Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then traveled into the opposing traffic lane and collided with the bus traveling south, police said. Martinsburg Police were assisted by city fire and EMS units, the Berkeley County Ambulance Authority, West Virginia Division of Highways and the City of Martinsburg Public Works Department.
