Man, 67, charged with indecent exposure

January 16, 2009

SMITHSBURG -- A Smithsburg man was charged with two counts of indecent exposure this week after a Smithsburg Police Department officer watched the man expose himself to a school bus and to a mother walking with her 8-year-old daughter, according to Smithsburg police and allegations in Washington County District Court records available online.

Ronald Eugene Smith, 67, of 18 Blue Mountain Estates, was charged with two counts of indecent exposure.

Smithsburg Police Officer Michael Neuland performed surveillance Wednesday from a garage in the Blue Mountain Estates area after police received a complaint about a man exposing himself from his front porch Tuesday, police said in a news release.

On Wednesday morning, Neuland alleged in a report that he saw the man walk out of a house in his bathrobe and open the robe. The man was naked under the robe and the officer watched for about 15 minutes as the man exposed himself, police said.
