WILLIAMSPORT - Margaret Leona Gatz, 82, of Williamsport, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.

Born Oct. 22, 1926, in Lima, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Susanna Catrina Breda Roosenberg.

Her husband, Albert Otto Gatz, died in 2008.

She was a 1944 graduate of Emmanuel Missionary Academy in Berrien Springs, Mich., and a 1971 graduate of Hinsdale Sanitarium & Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill., with a licensed practical nurse degree.

She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Tidewater Memorial Hospital in Tappahannock, Va., until her retirement.

She was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hagerstown.

She also was a member of AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia L. Larson of Freesoil, Mich.; three sons, Lynn E. Gatz of Randolph, N.Y., Stephen A. Gatz of Hagerstown and Douglas J. Gatz of Boonsboro; two sisters, Jeannette Hodge of Berrien Springs and Mary Baker of Loma Linda, Calif.; three brothers, Fred Roosenberg of Chuckie, Tenn., Henry Roosenberg of Boise, Idaho and John Roosenberg of Augusta, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene S. Crowley; two sons, Neil E. Gatz and Allen M. Gatz; and four brothers, Paul Roosenberg, William Roosenberg, Leo Roosenberg and Adrian Roosenberg.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport. Pastor Rick Remmers will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Gobles, Mich., at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
