Musicians to perform at library Feb. 8

Musicians Candice Mowbray and Morgan Jenkins will present a Valentine's Day Concert at Washington County Free Library on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m.

The Jenkins/Mowbray Flute and Guitar Duet will present a concert of classical, romantic and impressionistic works. The program will highlight composers from the turn of the 20th century who are associated with the Impressionist school: Ravel, Faure, Satie and Debussy.

Girls softball league to hold registration

The Washington County Girls Softball League will hold registration for girls in third through eighth grade at Dick's Sporting Goods in the Centre at Hagerstown (Wal-Mart Shopping Center) on the following dates:

Saturday, Jan. 31; Saturday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 28; from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and at Extra Innings on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration costs $40 due at signup. Benefit concert to be held at church

A benefit concert is scheduled for Antietam Bible College, Biblical Seminary and Graduate School in the First Baptist Church sanctuary on the corner of High Street and Washington Avenue in Hagerstown on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature traditional hymns. Food drive set for Saturday

The Democratic Central Committee will host a food drive at the Democratic Central Committee Headquarters at 25 N. Potomac St. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents are asked to bring nonperishable food items. All donated food will go to Food Resources and The Salvation Army of Washington County.

Elks Lodge No. 378 plans money bonanza

BPO Elks Lodge No. 378 at 11063 Robinwood Drive will hold a money bonanza Sunday, Feb. 8.

Tickets cost $25, which admits the ticket holder and one guest. There will be 31 cash prizes and the grand prize will be $3,000. There will be tip jars, King Tuts, Big Daddy, Progressive 300 and a 50/50 raffle. Ticket No. 1 will be raffled off and the winner will be put in the last 10.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and dinner will be served at 1 p.m. There will be a dessert table and drinks will be provided. Use door No. 6.

The proceeds will benefit youth programs and charitable requests.
