Breakfast to raise funds for WHS senior

January 15, 2009

A Pancake Breakfast for Katie will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, from 7 to 11 a.m. at Williamsport High School. Tickets cost $5.

The breakfast is being held to raise funds for the medical treatment and needed home improvements for Katarina "Katie" Stains, a Williamsport High School senior and cheerleader.

According to coach Stan Stouffer, Katie was diagnosed over the holidays with Ewing's sarcoma, a very aggressive cancer. This has put her family under enormous emotional and financial strain.

Contributions may be directed to the Katarina Stains fund at the Washington County Teachers Federal Credit Union on Virginia Avenue, Stouffer said.

Stouffer and others from Washington County visited Katie on Tuesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She is expected to return home soon, he said.

For more information on the breakfast or Katie's condition, call Stouffer at 301-766-8424 or Jodie Warrenfeltz at 301-582-3233, or send e-mail to Warrenfeltz at jodie@curcomp.com.
