SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Sam Liggins scored 20 points to lead 15th-ranked Alderson-Broaddus to a win over Shepherd University in the West Virginia Conference, snapping the Rams' five-game winning streak.

The Battlers (11-1, 5-0) had four players in double figures, led by Stan Hall with 14 points.

Fred Lymas led the Rams (6-8, 5-2) with a career-high 20 points. Justin Jarman added 14 points and five boards, while Liki Turner contributed seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.


Shepherd 66, Alderson-Broaddus 60

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Krissy Grosselin scored 18 points and Katie Warehime added 17 to lead Shepherd University over Alderson-Broaddus in the West Virginia Conference.


Carrie Saunders tossed in 10 points, Colleen Shumaker added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds and Jerica Hewett had four points, eight rebounds, and a game-high five assists for the Rams (5-9, 2-5).

Chelsea Kuehner poured in a game-high 20 points to pace the Battlers (6-7, 3-3).


Williamsport alumni basketball

Williamsport High School is planning an alumni men's basketball doubleheader to raise funds for the families of two Williamsport students who are battling Ewing's Sarcoma.

The games will be played Feb. 21 in the school gymnasium. All former senior varsity letter winners are eligible to play.
