Man sentenced on corruption charges

January 15, 2009

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Greencastle, Pa., man charged with showing pornographic videos to a teenager was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to nine to 23 months in jail.

Barry L. Keefer, 50, of 7670 Valley View Lane, pleaded no contest in October to corruption of a minor of a sexual nature, according to court records. In addition to the jail sentence, Judge Richard Walsh placed Keefer on probation for another two years and ordered him not to have contact with the victim or any males under the age of 18.

A parent took the 17-year-old boy to Pennsylvania State Police in December 2007, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The boy was working at houses for Keefer in November and December, during which time he showed the boy homosexual pornographic videos, police said.

Keefer also bought the boy a cell phone and sent him inappropriate e-mails and text messages, police said.
