Walker to speak on 'Legends of Antietam'

Keven Walker, culture resource specialist at Antietam National Battlefield, will talk about "Legends and Lore of Antietam" at the Sharpsburg Public Library, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

St. Mark's to offer Alpha course

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, will offer the Alpha course beginning Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the church's parish hall. Alpha answers many of the questions people ask about Christianity. The opening night will include a celebration reception with a video presentation by English minister Nicky Gumbel. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. Call the church at 301-582-0417 to reserve a spot so the church will have enough food and drink for everyone.

Zumba exercise classes offered at St. Mark's

Zumba exercise classes will be offered at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Anita Binder will offer two sessions at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The classes cost $50 for eight weeks or $10 for drop-in class (including the first night). Zumba is a dance exercise offered at many health clubs. For registration, call Anita at 301-393-0884 (10 students must register to offer the class.)


Keedysville Ruritan sponsors basket bingo

The Keedysville Ruritan will sponsor a basket bingo Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Keedysville Community Center. Tickets cost $15. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Baskets will be filled, games of chance, King Tut's, chance baskets, mini raffles and 50/50 will be available. No one under 13 will be permitted to play bingo. Smoking is not permitted. Seating is limited. Call to reserve a ticket. All tickets must be purchased by 5:30 p.m. or you risk losing your ticket. A minimum of 70 is needed or bingo might be canceled. For more information, call 301-432-8871 or 301-432-0281. Bingo will be canceled if the snow emergency plan is in effect and might be rescheduled at a later date.

BHS class of '77 to hold cruise

The Boonsboro High class of 1977 is planning a cruise in August to celebrate the class members' 50th birthday. Diana (Ritenour) Ratliff is the contact for the cruise. Any suggestions or ideas, forward them to her at Meetings will be held the last Sunday of every month at 5 p.m. The next dinner meeting will be Sunday, Jan. 25, at 5 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings near Valley Mall.

Helen House to speak at senior site

The senior site in Keedysville at the Little Antietam Community Center, 40 Mt. Vernon Drive, will provide regularly scheduled activities during the month of January.

Helen House will speak on the topic "Glaucoma: Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention" and conduct exercises Tuesday. Tom Day will conduct an issues and answers session Tuesday.
