Charles Lee Mellott, 73, of Hagerstown, and formerly of Keedysville, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. He was a resident of Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born Nov. 22, 1935, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Richard William and Virginia Harshman Mellott.

He attended Boonsboro High School.

He retired from Hagerstown Canteen Service after 37 years of service as the district manager in Winchester, Va.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Winchester.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. "Dottie" Kinch Mellott; one daughter, Lori A. Hudlow of Keedysville; two sisters, P. Louise Turner of Hagerstown and Dorothy Ferguson of Smithsburg; one brother, Dale Mellott of Clear Spring; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella J. Henneberger and Kathryn Herridge; and two brothers, William and Robert Mellott.


A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, Hagerstown. The Rev. Rachel Black will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown is in charge of the arrangements.
