KEEDYSVILLE - Patricia Burnside Post died Jan. 11, 2009, of cancer at her home in Keedysville, Md.

She was 67 years old.

Mrs. Post was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Frank Burnside and Peggy Davis Burnside.

She graduated from Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School, received an A.B. in English from College Misericordia and attended graduate school at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

After returning to the Wilkes-Barre area in 1967 with her family, she was an active member of Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church. She served on the vestry and taught Sunday school. She was a member of Thursday Club and also served as a substitute teacher for the Wyoming Seminary Lower School.


In 1981, after moving to Mercersburg, Pa., she worked as a librarian at the Mercersburg Academy until retiring in 2005. Mrs. Post was an avid reader and gardener.

She is survived by Philip Post, her husband of 45 years. Other survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth McKelvey of West Newton, Mass., and Rebecca Post of Washington, D.C.; her sisters, Diane Haddle of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Bonnie Mills of Lehman, Pa.; a brother, Frank Burnside Jr. of Harvey's Lake, Pa.; and her grandchildren, Emily and William McKelvey.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Saint James School Chapel in Saint James, Md. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church and the Rev. Todd Fitzgerald will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, Md.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
