WAYNESBORO, Pa. - James E. Heikes, 87, of Country Club Road, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Quincy Village.

Born March 24, 1921, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Melvin E. Heikes and Hazel Montgomery Heikes.

His wife, Lillian Marie Kline Heikes, died May 18, 1993. They were married Aug. 31, 1944.

He was a 1939 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He retired in 1983 from Moore Business Forms in Thurmont, Md.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one son, James E. Heikes Jr. of East Windsor, N.J.; one brother, Richard M. Heikes of Waynesboro; one grandson, Jeffrey Heikes of Minneapolis; and a number of nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. Mark Shover will officiate. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
