FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Gerald Francis "Jerry" Janson, 78, of 44 Emerson Drive, Falling Waters, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at his home.

Jerry was born in Smock, Pa., Nov. 18, 1930, the son of the late Joseph John and Mildred Jeanette Weimer Janson.

Jerry graduated from Uniontown Senior High School, Uniontown, Pa., in the class of 1949.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Jerry was employed with Mack Trucks Inc., Hagerstown, for 25 years, retiring in 1987.

Jerry was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport.

Jerry was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 Improved Order of Red Men, Potomac Post 202 American Legion, both of Williamsport, Aerie 694 Fraternal Order of Eagles, Hagerstown, Post 38 AMVETS, Falling Waters, and a former member of the Beaver Creek Country Club, Beaver Creek.


He was an avid golfer and hunter.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha Ann Robbins Janson; daughter, Suzann J. Rohrer and her husband, Thomas R. Rohrer; granddaughter, Victoria J. Rohrer; and grandson, David T. Rohrer, all of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph J. "Bouncy" Janson and David E. Janson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport, with the Rev. Monsignor Alfred E. Smith celebrant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either, St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport, MD 21795; or the John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
