Apollo holds auditions today

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Apollo Civic Theatre will hold auditions for Agatha Christie's murder mystery, "The Mousetrap" from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today; and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Roles are available for five adult men and three adult women.

Performances will be Friday, March 13, through Sunday, March 15, and Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22.

Auditions set for 'Carmina Burana'

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Masterworks Chorale will hold auditions for "Carmina Burana." The 100-member vocal ensemble is comprised of Shepherd University vocal students and members from the surrounding community. Auditions are open to everyone, and consist of vocal exercises. Singers are not required to prepare a piece in advance.

Rehearsals are at 7:30 p.m. Monday evenings in the Frank Arts Center rehearsal hall at Shepherd University. The chorale will perform Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2. The performance includes a full orchestra and professional soloists.


The first rehearsal takes place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, in the rehearsal hall at Frank Arts Center. Anyone interested in being part of the group should attend the first rehearsal. For information or to schedule an audition, call Erik Reid Jones at 304-876-5371 or e-mail

Grand-prize photo

The grand-prize winning photograph in this year's Hallowed Ground magazine's photography contest is a picture of Antietam National Battlefield. Ron Callaghan of Rockville, Md., snapped the picture of the battlefield's New York Monument.
