The Days



Jack and Betty Day of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 31, 2008, at Hickory Bridge Farm Restaurant in Orrtanna, Pa. A dinner was hosted by their daughter Annette and husband Richard Scott; sons Christopher Day, and Kevin and wife Ann-Dee Day. Also attending were their two granddaughters and their husbands; and their great-grandson.

Mrs. Day is the daughter of Hazel Barnhart and the late William Barnhart. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Washington County Hospital for 25 years.

Mr. Day is the son of the late Katherine E. Snowberger and B. Jack Day. He retired from the United States Army Reserve, and the Civil Service at the USAR Center after 33 years service.

They were married on Nov. 2, 1958, at Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, by the Rev. Earl Redding.

The Clines



Ronald A. and Emma Jane Cline of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3, 2008, at Schmankerl Stube Restaurant in Hagerstown. A dinner was hosted by their daughters and husbands, Kathy and Gary Nally of Williamsport, and their children, Tyler and Emmaleigh; and Cheryl and Tim Hinds of Greenville, S.C., and their children, Luke, Michael and Jessica. The Hinds family serves in the mission field in Kenya, and were home on furlough for the summer.

Mrs. Cline is the former Emma Jane Conrad, daughter of the late Walter and Emma Conrad. She retired after 40 years of service as a registered nurse from Washington County Hospital.

Mr. Cline is the son of the late Elmer and Ella Cline. He retired after 42 years of self-employment in the farm machinery business from E.T. Cline and Sons Inc.

Mr. and Mrs. Cline were married on July 27, 1958, at First Christian Church in Hagerstown by Dr. Wilbur S. Hogevoll and the Rev. Joseph P. Porterfield, both now deceased.

The Comptons



Buddy and Louise (Sloan) Compton of Clear Spring celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov 15, 2008.

They were married on Nov. 15, 1958, at Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown.

The Comptons have three children, John and wife Michelle, Tina and husband Jack and Cindy and husband Kenney. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Compton is the son of the late John and Sylvia Compton.

Mrs. Compton is the daughter of Martha Sloan Carter and the late Harry Sloan.
