Gerald Steven "Steve" Fear Sr., 55, of 28 Garlinger Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at his home.

Born Oct. 2, 1953, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Margaret Shambaugh Fear Clopper of Greencastle, Pa., and the late Edward Thomas Fear.

He was employed by Western Maryland/Amtrak Railroad Contractors for 20 years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cathy Loveless Fear; three daughters, Stephanie Fear, Angel Fear and Chasity Loveless, all of Hagerstown; two sons, Gerald S. Fear Jr. and Edward Fear, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Barbara Ritter of Hagerstown, Shirley Householder and Wanda Giffin, both of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Brenda Clopper of Greencastle; one brother, Vernon Fear of Williamsport; two stepbrothers, Edward Clopper and James Clopper, both of Greencastle; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Max Clopper; and stepbrother, Richard Clopper.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert D. Swank Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
