Friday Night Out

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA invites children ages 6 to 12 to the Friday Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9. The evening includes pizza, drinks and swimming. After swimming the children will have structured recreation time and group games in the Y's youth room, gyms and Youth Fitness Center. The cost per person per visit is $15; $10 for YMCA members. Family yoga classes

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -Chambersburg YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St. will offer family yoga from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 10, to Jan. 31. For ages 3 and older who are accompanied by at least one adult. Parent award

The Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Award is an annual award for parents and others with legal responsibility for a child, whose exemplary contributions to public education have led to improvements for Maryland's public school children, teachers, schools, programs and/or policies.

Community center programs

CASCADE - Fort Ritchie Community Center, 14421 Lake Royer Drive, will offer the following programs:

o Outlook and Opportunities - A presentation on the economy with Edward Jones Investment representative, Shelby Penn. 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10; and 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. Free to the community.

o Scrapbooking class with Kathy Bostick, Creative Memories consultant. 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20. Cost is $10 per person; $5 per member.

o Frederick County School Kids' Day Out activity. 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. The cost is $5 per child; free to members.

o Tentative kids' lock-in. Friday, Jan. 30. If interested, call 301-241-5085.

The new Fort Ritchie Community Center offers pick-up volleyball and basketball, kickboxing, yoga and Pilates classes.

Snow tubing for YMCA members

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -Chambersburg YMCA is hosting a family snow tubing trip to Whitetail on Sunday, Jan. 25. The afternoon will kick off at 2 p.m. with a pizza party at the Y, then families will travel to Whitetail on a YMCA bus for two hours of tubing.

The cost is $30 per person for anyone older than 6. Cost includes pizza, drink, transportation to and from Whitetail, and tubing tickets. The event is for YMCA members only. Space is limited.
