MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Thelma L. Houpt, 77, of Buchanan Trail West, Mercersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1931, in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Lewis N. and Anna Robinson Pine.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Taylor Jr., who died Dec. 24, 1959. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Paul L. Houpt Sr., who died March 22, 1983.
She was a retiree of Knouse Foods of Chambersburg, Pa.
She was a member of American Legion Post 517 Ladies Auxiliary, Mercersburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith T. Bierd and Patricia L. Cutshaw, both of Mercersburg; three sons, Terry L. Taylor and Jason M. Houpt, both of Mercersburg, and William R. Houpt of Cogan Station, Pa.; two stepsons, Paul L. Houpt Jr. of Upton, Pa., and Kurt D. Houpt of Mt. Holly Springs, Pa.; five sisters, Dorothy Robinson, Nancy Cook, Mary McDonald, Audrey Greco and Lorraine Higgins, all of Mercersburg; three brothers, Wade Pine, Earl Pine and Lewis Pine, all of Mercersburg; 12 grandchildren, 6 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 stepgreat-grandchildren.
