WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gary D. Gift, 65, of 11608 Gehr Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 15, 1943, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late W. Dean and Katherine Mae Carr Gift.

He was a 1961 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School and attended Penn State Mont Alto Campus.

He served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam War.

He was a letter carrier for the Waynesboro Post Office from 1966 until retiring in 2005.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro and attended Ringgold Church of Christ.

He was a member of Eagles Club Inc., William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191, and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association, all of Waynesboro; and National AARP.

He had coached Little League Baseball for the Moose team and had videotaped Waynesboro High School football games.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Marie Buhrman Gift, whom he married April 30, 1967; one daughter, Deena M. Mason of Overland Park, Kan.; two sons, Joseph E. Gift of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Philip A. Gift of Waynesboro; two sisters, Karen S. Davis of Valencia, Calif., and Sondra G. Fries of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ringgold Church of Christ. The Rev. Donald E. Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
