Welcome to the Halfway neighborhood

Halfway just keeps on growing. The area added another new addition to the neighborhood over the holidays - the Golden Corral restaurant. The restaurant opened for business on New Year's Day. It features a new Asian-themed Pagoda food station and a new Chocolate Fixation dessert station.

The restaurant sits between Valley Mall and Target. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Food drive

Allegany Dental Care will host a food drive for Food Resources again this year. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the Halfway office at 17719 Virginia Ave. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items most needed are canned fruit, canned meats, canned vegetables, 100 percent fruit juice, peanut butter and cereal.

PTA meeting

The South Hagerstown High School PTA will meet today at 6 p.m. All members are invited to attend to discuss upcoming events.

Financial aid seminar

A financial aid seminar will be held at Williamsport High School today, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Angie Hovatter from Frostburg State University will talk about college financial aid opportunities. For more information, call the school at 301-766-8423.


Bridal/prom show

The South Hagerstown High School PTA, along with Potomac Bridals, will host the Washington County Prom Fashion Show 2009 on Saturday, Jan. 31. The event will begin at 3 p.m. and doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for adults and $2 for students. Door prizes will be awarded, along with discounts on gowns and tuxedos.
