FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. -- Deloris L. "Sis" Stauffer Rhone, 78, of The Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of 6523 Duffield Road in Chambersburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Myra Bonner Stauffer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin "Peachy" Rhone, in 1967. They were married Dec. 17, 1948.

She last was employed as co-owner of Duffy's Mart in Pond Bank, Pa., retiring in 1998.

She attended Pond Bank Independent Church.

She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1128 of Chambersburg, where she had been elected Mother of the Year. She was a former leader of Girl Scouts of America and participated in Elder Day Care at Menno Haven.

She is survived by seven daughters, Debra L. Skiles of McConnellsburg, Pa., Pat A. Horn of Fayetteville, Diana S. Myers of Mont Alto, Pa., Linda J. Johnson of Shippensburg, Pa., Mary M. Levy of Chincoteague, Va., Rita R. Rinehimer of Lititz, Pa., and April D. Rhone of Chambersburg; two sons, Gregory C. Rhone and Craig F. Rhone, both of Chambersburg; one sister, Arletta Rowe of Waynesboro, Pa.; two brothers, Marlin Stauffer of Greencastle, Pa., and Emmert Stauffer of Waynesboro; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia F. Barkdoll; two brothers, Stanley G. Stouffer and Arthur W. Stouffer Sr.; and her companion, Walter H. "Duffey" Beard.

Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Chaplain Chuck Ryan will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
