Eight arrested in drug sting

January 08, 2009

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Eight people were arrested Wednesday as a result of a Morgan County drug investigation that was spurred in part by a young man who died last summer from a drug overdose and public outcry over the problem, according to Morgan County Sheriff Vince Shambaugh.

The investigation, called Operation Done Deal, was conducted over five months and involved undercover deputies, Shambaugh said in a news release.

Drugs purchased in the probe included heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and several prescription medications, Shambaugh said.

A circuit judge issued 12 arrest warrants and eight of the 12 defendants were found between 5 and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, Shambaugh said.

They were taken to the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, W.Va., Shambaugh said.

According to the news release, those arrested included:

o Jeremy C. Hobday, 18, of Berkeley Springs, was charged with three counts of delivery, one count of conspiracy, one count of simple possession.
