Hagerstown Sav-A-Lot robbed

January 07, 2009

Three masked men forced their way into a Sav-A-Lot store at 1161 Maryland Ave. in Hagerstown as it was closing Wednesday night and stole cash, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

The men forced their way into the store as employees were closing it, said police, who responded at 8:15 p.m.

The men then forced the workers into an office and stole money from cash registers, according to Sgt. Jim Robinson.

One of the assailants was possibly carrying a baseball bat and one was possibly holding a tire iron, Robinson said. All three men were wearing ski masks.

The men had fled from the store by the time police arrived.

Anyone with information about the robbery may call the police department's criminal investigation division at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.
