Hagerstown police respond to calls

Hagerstown Police responded to the following calls recently:

Wednesday, Dec. 31:

o Theft (cab service), 316 N. Prospect St.

o Attempted burglary/damage to property (window), 236 Prospect Ave.

Thursday, Jan. 1:

o Theft of groceries, Martin's, 1650 Wesel Blvd.

Friday, Jan. 2:

o Theft/unauthorized use of a credit card, 802 Salem Ave.


Saturday, Jan. 3:

Washington County deputies respond to calls

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls recently:

Saturday, Jan. 3:

o Breaking and entering at shed at Smithsburg High School. Snow chains and battery charger were stolen.

o Theft of four "beauty rings" for wheels from vehicle in the 18600 block of Donald Street

o Theft of license plate from a vehicle at Robinwood Medical Center

o Tire slashed on a vehicle in the 400 block of Baker Hill Lane

Sunday, Jan. 4:

o Black 1993 Saab stolen from Main Street in Keedysville

o Breaking and entering in the 200 block of Artizan Street in Williamsport

Greencastle woman injured in crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A pre-existing medical condition is believed to be the cause of an accident near Chambersburg Hospital in which a Greencastle, Pa., woman was injured, according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

The accident happened at 8:55 a.m. when a vehicle driven by Annette Freeman, 45, of 12663 Ridge Road, struck the rear of another vehicle driven by a relative, Lauren Freeman, same address, police said. Annette Freeman's vehicle continued on, striking a utility pole and then overturning, police said.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Seventh Street, police said.

Fayetteville, Pa., man charged with indecent assault

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Fayetteville, Pa., man has been charged with aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault in an incident involving two girls, according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

Russell Louis Schooley, 19, of 5300 Lincoln Way East was taken into custody at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, police said. The charges involved two girls, ages 7 and 5.

The report did not indicate where in Chambersburg the incident took place.

Man wanted on drug charge found in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man wanted on a distribution of cocaine charge following a violent crimes task force investigation was found in a house on North Tennessee Avenue on Monday afternoon, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release.

After Martinsburg Police Patrolman Brian Rouse and Detective George Swartwood were notified by the FBI of a possible location for the man, the officers responded to 205 N. Tennessee Ave., and the suspect was found in a bedroom, the release said.

Yarletta Santiago, 38, formerly of 195 Argyle St., Keyser, W.Va., was arrested about 3:20 p.m., the release said.

The case was investigated by the Potomac Highland Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force.
