CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Donald W. Zentmyer, 77, of 1700 Blakewood Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at his home.

Born July 25, 1931, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late William E. and Katherine Stamm Winters, and his adopted parents, the late Charles and Bess Zentmyer.

He was a 1950 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

He retired from the Descom division at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he worked as a computer systems analyst.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 and Franklin Fire Company, both of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Evelyn Black Zentmyer; four children, Debra Fleegal, David Zentmyer, Donna Little and Sandra Bubak; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Steven D. Dorsett will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John and Cora Grove Cancer Center at Summit Keystone Pavilion, 755 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
