HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Virgie Mae Hackler, 94, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) Rehabilitation & Nursing.

Born March 13, 1914, in Grayson County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Wally and Isora Parks Cornette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Stewart Hackler.

She attended public schools in Grayson County.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Church of God.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Jean Bricker of Railroad, Pa., Nancy N. Pepple of Chambersburg, Pa., and Patty K. Matthews of Hedgesville; two sons, Clifton R. Hackler of York, Pa., and Daniel B. Hackler of Moundsville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Cox, Viney Cornette and Flossie Cornette; one brother, Walter Cornette; and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Jerry Price will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Bible Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from noon to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.
