Thurmont Thespians hold auditions

THURMONT, Md. - The Thurmont Thespians will hold open auditions for the upcoming spring 2009 musical, "Nunsense II (The Second Coming)," from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Monday, Jan. 5, and Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Thurmont St. John's Lutheran Church social hall. Auditioners should bring a song to sing that is not from the show. Be prepared to sing, move, and dance as well as read scenes from the script.

Show dates are Fridays, March 20 and 27, Saturdays, March 21 and 28, and Sundays, March 22 and 29, and Monday, March 23. Five female roles are open. All ages will be considered. For information, call Director Steve Ross at 240-308-1280 after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays or anytime on weekends; or e-mail

Entry deadline near for photo contest

The final day to submit entries to the 76th annual Cumberland Valley Photographic Salon is 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2. Entry forms are at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts or call 301-739-5727.


Auditions set for 'Robin Hood'

FREDERICK, Md. - The audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of "Robin Hood" will be at 4 pm. Monday, Jan. 12, at Weinberg Center for the Arts, 20 W. Patrick St. There are roles for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This is a group audition and no advance preparation is necessary.

Rehearsals will be held after the audition and from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, through Friday, Jan. 16, at the Weinberg Center for the Arts.

The performance of "Robin Hood" will be at 3 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Weinberg Center.
